In "Still Alive", an acrylic and oil painting series, Morgan constructs elaborate still lives around objects found at estate and garage sales, combining their love for painting from observation and reviving old materials. After poring over items that are being dislocated from their home, they choose one and either leave it as it is or use it for assemblage. Once the item is ready, they rebuild a new environment for it with other items and materials already in their space. Although the still lives are often photographed for the sake of memory, the paintings are always from live observation. Their process allows new visual stories to grow from the ashes of the old stories in order to animate a focal character. All materials used, including paint and canvas are over 5 years old or second-hand.
